Minimal changes of serum creatinine in the early postoperative period predict prognosis in patients after cardiac surgery

چکیده
Methods Elective adult cardiac surgical patients between 1997 and 2001 at the Medical University of Vienna were included. The cohort was split into two groups: Patients with an elevated SCr >1.3 mg.dL and ≤1.3 mg.dL. Within 120 minutes after end of surgery, the ΔCrea between the first measured SCr and the baseline SCr value was calculated for each patient. Mortality rates were calculated stepwise in 0.1 mg.dL intervals of ΔCrea.

Minimal changes of serum creatinine predict prognosis in patients after cardiothoracic surgery: a prospective cohort study.
Acute renal failure increases risk of death after cardiac surgery. However, it is not known whether more subtle changes in renal function might have an impact on outcome. Thus, the association between small serum creatinine changes after surgery and mortality, independent of other established perioperative risk indicators, was analyzed. In a prospective cohort study in 4118 patients who underwe...
متن کاملComparison of Serum Cystatin C and Creati-nine Levels to Evaluate Early Renal Function after Kidney Transplantation
Background: Accurate and rapid assessment of allograft function is essential in renal transplant recipients in order to detect allograft rejection and to monitor drug nephrotoxicity. We aimed to evaluate the usefulness of cystatin C as a marker of kidney allograft function in the early post-transplant period and to compare this value with that of conventional serum creatinine concentration. Met...
متن کاملمقایسه سطح سرمی بیومارکر NGAL قبل و بعد پیوند با شاخصهای عملکرد گرافت
Background & Aims: Diagnosis of poor graft function by modern biomarkers is a step to early detection of injuries to the kidneys. Therefore, in this study, serum NGAL was evaluated in renal transplant recipients and compared with creatinine and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) using CKD-Epi equation. Materials & Methods: This case-control study was performed at Imam Khomeini Teaching Hospital,...
متن کاملFrailty effects and euro score system evaluation in postoperative outcomes of cardiac surgery patients
Background: Several scoring systems are available to evaluate the cardiac surgery risk. Frailty increases the risk of adverse outcomes after surgery. The Frailty evaluation system is a relatively new method, and in this study, we compared the frailty scoring method with the conventional Euroscore method. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 88 elderly patients (over 65 years of...
متن کاملRenal insufficiency after infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm reconstruction: An analysis of this risk factor in 45 patients
Abstract Background: Renal insufficiency is a potential complication after infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm repair and is a significant risk factor for postoperative mortality and morbidity. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of this risk factor, before and during operation. Methods: In this prospective study, between 2003 and 2006, 45 patients underwent repair of an infrarena...
